Preparing for a Visitation
Acts 10:33 (NKJV) "...So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God."
When Brian Simmons first asked about coming to our church over a year ago, I was absolutely floored. Because of the depth of teaching, his passion for Jesus and revival, I was ready to say "yes" on a moments notice.
Brian and his wife Candice have been on the forefront of passion for God and revival since their call as missionaries, then as pastors in an Ivy league town and since, traveling and representing Jesus through his speaking and ministering as well as their seminal work on the Passion Translation.
So knowing that God has arranged this moment in time for us, how are we to prepare for their ministry to us?
Know that his coming to our area and our church is ordained from God. (..."So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come."...) We are a backwater compared to other cities and towns. We are not even the largest church in our area, but God has sent his ministers to impart a spiritual gift to us to establish us. (Romans 1:11,12)
Recognize that God is among us and is ready to do something wonderful in our midst. (..."we are all present before God...") We are gathering in His name! We will be worshiping our great God, prioritizing Him, and He in turn will be present among us, in a dynamic powerful way. I just got chills writing that!
We will submit our hearts to hear what God is giving to us through Brian's Ministry, spoken and imparted. (..."to hear all the things commanded you by God.") If we approach this weekend's excellent teaching with a heart of openness and submission to God, there is no telling what God will do to us through Brian's teaching and ministry! As we gather, let's open our hearts to hear from a man sent by God to us through impossible circumstances. There is no telling what will happen this weekend.
